Description
The Service will provide short term accommodation and low level emotional and practical support for adults in a time of mental health crisis, supporting a range of newly emerging or more severe, long term and/or complex mental health conditions. The service will provide a safe and effective alternative to hospital admission for appropriate people to help reduce the number of hospital admissions. In the context of the specification, a mental health crisis is when someone is experiencing a period of acute psychological distress, associated with a mental health problem (which may or may not have been given a formal diagnosis). The crisis may be a sudden deterioration of an existing mental health problem or they may be experiencing mental health problems for the first time. They need immediate treatment and/or care and/or support in order to prevent further deterioration in their mental or physical wellbeing and to help prevent hospital admission.
