Description
This programme of work aims to bring UK Geoenergy Observatories science and issues to life through a range of digital and physical educational and engagement resources for use with target audiences. The resources will become part of a broader communications and engagement programme being delivered by the BGS and NERC to engage people over the 15-year lifetime of the observatories with the science themes at the heart of the UK Geoenergy Observatories. These are: • Subsurface science • Open data from the deep • Environmental issues • Resource development • The role of independent scientific evidence Objectives The objectives of the outreach work are to: • Encourage more young people to consider geoscience and data science as career options • Excite, enthuse and engage all audience groups with UK Geoenergy Observatories research • Engage all audience groups with the relevance and importance of an independent evidence base for public good in environmental science • Equip and support researchers to communicate their research and its issues with a broad range of stakeholders • Equip people with the skills to understand the research method, process and its outputs
