As a consequence the MDFT based at WISDEM Centre, UHCW frequently provides local and regional care to the most complex patients (at risk of life, limb or tissue loss due to their vascular or diabetes complications such as sepsis, gangrene, critical limb ischaemia, end stage renal failure and neuropathy). Patients who cannot be successfully managed within the standard orthotic pathway are to be referred to the Specialist Vascular/Active and High Foot Risk Orthotic Patient Service.
