Block Purchase of Residential Accommodation, Adult Social Care and Health Care Services in Response to COVID-19

The Governments Hospital Discharge Service Requirements for all NHS trusts and Adult Social Care commissioners set out detailed guidance in response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Specific responsibilities were placed on Leicester City Council, to take a lead in expanding capacity within the Residential Care market to receive those patients being discharged from hospitals into the community that require residential care in a safe and timely manner. This service has been procured and managed by the Leicester City Council as part of a collaborative approach with colleagues in health and Leicestershire and Rutland County Councils.
