Description
Demolition of two buildings (CEDOS & Waste Transfer Station) located on the Westbridge site. The contractor is advised to treat the demolitions as two separate demolitions as they occupy separate sites divided by a well trafficked road and will need to be secured as such. Although many of the important Health & Safety requirements apply to both sites. The CEDOS Building dates from the early twentieth century and was originally a motorcycle manufacturing facility for the CEDOS company who traded for a short time from the First World War until the mid-1920s. Since then, it had various uses – most recently providing offices and training space as well as general storage. The building has fallen into disuse. A condition survey was carried out, and the conclusion was that the general condition was such that the cost of renovation would be prohibitive and that the most effective solution would be demolition. The Waste Transfer Station. Also known as the MRF building. The building is a brick and metal constructed warehouse unit, built circa 1960’s. It is a crude warehouse structure built around a steel portal frame with steel purlins and bracing. Clad in uninsulated asbestos cement cladding and roofing sheets, it has an external perimeter masonry wall of approximately 2 metres height. Pre-tender estimate circa £400,000 Estimated 4 weeks on site. Anticipated on site start June/July 2026
