Description

Worcestershire County Council has a prime provider relationship with the Education and Skills Funding Agency for the delivery of 16-19 Education as Study Programmes and Study Programme Traineeships. The contract is managed within Learning Services Worcestershire and branded as Young Adult Learning. The activity forms part of the council’s response to the statutory duty to secure sufficient suitable education and training provision for all young people aged 16-19, and for those aged 19-24 who have a learning difficulty assessment (Education and Health Care Plan), as part of the Raising the Participation Age responsibility (as set out in the 2008 Education and Skills Act). The programme’s specific area of focus is in providing specialised, targeted programmes for those aged 16-19 who are disengaged, or at greatest risk of disengaging. Learners aged 19-24 are also embraced into the provision if it is found to be the most appropriate option for their identified, individual needs.
