Description
South Derbyshire District Council has a statutory duty towards homeless households and are committed to tackling homelessness and its root causes. In recent years there has been an increased demand for housing advice and homelessness assistance from people affected by mental health issues. The Housing Solutions Team at South Derbyshire District Council deals with over 600 enquiries a year and has highlighted a gap in mental health provision for people with complex mental health needs. In an increasing number of cases, mental health is the cause of homelessness as people either struggle to sustain a tenancy or cannot secure accommodation. We require a full-time mental health worker that can support homeless households across the District. The worker will be employed directly by the bidding organisation and will have a desk space at South Derbyshire District Council's offices, they will be offering medium-high level support for people either at risk of losing their home, whilst they are in temporary accommodation and after they have been rehoused.
