Description
The Carers Support Service is a key component of Lincolnshire County Council's response to its duties under the Care Act (2014). The Care Act and the Children and Families Act (2014) give carers full legal recognition, placing their needs and rights on an equal footing to those for whom they care. The Acts place a general duty on councils to promote the wellbeing of carers, and to prevent, reduce and delay the onset of their needs by the provision of support and joined up, whole family, whole system approaches. The purpose of the service is to support the health and well-being of adult carers and parent carers and to sustain their caring role. In doing so, the service aims to prevent, delay and reduce the onset of carer need and/or escalation into formal care services.
