Description
The scope of this contract is to provide non-medical help to cover support for which Disabled Students’ Allowance is being withdrawn to enable students with a disability to access the learning environment at Newcastle University. Support will be delivered primarily on Newcastle University premises. Lot 1: This will be a blended Study Assistant role that includes practical and mobility support, note taking (manual and typed), examination support with reader and/or scribe, laboratory support and study assistant. Lot 2: This will be a blended Support Assistant role to work with students with mobility difficulties and those who may arrive at university with personal care requirements. The Support Assistant role includes practical and mobility support, note taking (manual and typed), examination support with reader and/or scribe, lab support and study assistant. Suppliers must be registered with the Care Quality Commission. The successful supplier will recruit, supply and manage appropriately trained support staff with an enhanced DBS disclosure to deliver non-medical help services between Monday and Saturday, and between the hours of 9am and 7pm depending on demand. The agreement will be for up to 50 weeks per year to deliver non-medical help to students. Support workers will be expected to work with new and continuing students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study.
