Description
This is the Procurement of Dermatology Services for NHS North West Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group, who is the sole Commissioner. The Commissioner is supported in this project by NHS Commercial Solutions (NHSCS), which is managing this procurement. This opportunity relates to the provision of outpatient dermatology services, both routine appointments and skin cancer services. The procured services will cover the entire North West Surrey CCG geography. The current services are commissioned and delivered through the main acute provider Ashford & St Peter Hospitals NHS FT; however there is also some activity flow to the Royal Surrey Hospital and Frimley Hospital. North West Surrey has 363,000 registered patients across 41 practices. 67,000 people are over 65 years old. The indicative attendance type by activity is: One-stop clinic 1494 Consultant led clinics first 4038 Consultant led clinics follow up 2945 Non-consultant led first 1128 Non-consultant led follow up 613 Outpatient procedures 3598 Tele-dermatology 2459 The commissioner approximates the value of this opportunity at circa £1.779m per annum. The services procured will include: • Assessment, diagnostic investigation and treatment for the vast majority of dermatological conditions requiring specialist oversight • Provision of services for both routine appointments and skin cancer treatments under the 2 Week Rule pathway (including high risk BCC, melanoma or SCC) • Working with appropriate partners in the provision of a comprehensive MDT capable of managing skin cancers and accessing other specialties as required e.g. ENT, Maxillofacial surgery, histopathology • Treatment of both adults and children • Tele-dermatology and an explicit educational remit with primary care professionals and other clinicians Notable exclusions: • Wounds and leg ulcers • Laser service treatments • Cosmetic procedures • Benign skin lesions- viral warts, skin tags etc. for cosmetic reasons • Lipomas and haemangiomas and other benign lumps Guidance relating to the interventions and excisions to be performed under the scope of this contract are included within the Service Specification. The contract will be let under the terms of the NHS Standard contract. The contract will be for an initial 3 year term, one further extension option of up to 2 years. The contract value covers only the initial term.
