Description
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (the Council) is looking to recommission it's contract for delivery of an Independent Complaints and Advocacy Service (ICAS). In 2013 responsibility for the provision of an independent advocacy service became the responsibility of individual local authorities. This contract is funded directly by the NHS. In addition to the ICAS service Barnsley has two other advocacy services, commissioned under a separate contract specifically; • Statutory Independent Mental Health Advocacy and Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy service for qualifying people; and • General Adults Advocacy service. This ICAS Service is not commissioned to operate a general advocacy service and is required to sign-post to and work with providers of the services detailed above. This ICAS service is required to develop close working relationships with other similar local services to support the development of pathways and improve customer journeys.
