Description
Finedon Town Council invites tenders for paving and resurfacing works at Finedon Cemetery, 102 Station Road, Finedon, NN9 5NS. 1. Scope. Exiting Tarmac paths to be overlaid with new tarmac. To create a level smooth route. Following the general route of the existing path. Levelling out and straightening where possible. As per the cemetery path plan shown. Vehicle access path (Red) to be a minimum of 3.5m wide (estimated @ 1400m2) Pedestrian only paths (Yellow) to be a minimum of 1.5m wide (estimated @ 1100m2) New Pedestrian path (Green) to be a minimum of 1.5m wide (estimated @ 35m2) 2. Specification. General: • Trim back existing edge to install new gully edging frames. • All surfaces to be swept clean of loose material and treated with a suitable weedkiller. • Apply a bonding coat prior to laying new surface • AC6 Dense surface course macadam (100/150 pen), rolled to the following finishing depth. - Minimum 30mm Deep for vehicle route - Minimum 20mm Deep for pedestrian route • Seal all joints between edging and new path. • Seal all joints between new path and external roadside footpath. • Back fill along edge to finishing level with topsoil and seed. Entrance Gates: • Finishing level to be maintained with external roadside footpath. • The new path must not interfere with the operation of either the vehicle or pedestrian gate. • Fixing around either gate, such as gate hooks or bollards. Must be reinstated. New Footpath: • Compacted 150 MOT type crushed sub-base course. • Install new gully edging frames. • 50mm deep, 20mm dense binder course • 20mm deep, 6mm dense surface course 3. Installation For safety reasons the cemetery may remain closed to the public during the period of installation. Partial opening of the park is encouraged, but only in areas where it is safe to do so. The contractor will be responsible for managing all access points, safety barriers and all health and safety matters. Damage to the adjacent grass during the construction phase is expected. But fresh seeded topsoil shall be applied to level off and make good any damaged areas. All waste and any contaminants need to be segregated and removed from site. 4. Documentation • Fully assessed risk assessment must be submitted with the tender. To demonstrate the site will be maintained in according to Health and safety regulations. For both out of hours and during work when restricted access to the public is permitted. • Copy of public liability insurance. • Project timescale and expected start date. 5. Warranty All works shall be covered by a minimum 5-year warranty. Any deflects occurring within this period that are not attributed to vandalism or reasonable wear and tear. Shall be rectified within 2 months of notice period. The contract is expected to be awarded following Council approval on 3 September 2025, with a start date of 1 October 2025. All works must be completed within 8 weeks of commencement.
