Description

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) have introduced Coaching and Mentoring to the Organisation. It has always been referred to but a formal Service Order has now been put in place. Coaching Skills training is delivered to all Line Managers (operational and non-operational), and Mentoring is provided to new firefighter recruits and delegates on a Middle Manager Development Programme. The Organisation is going through a period of transformation in terms of culture and more emphasis is being placed on Leadership. Coaching is one of a range of Learning and Development interventions and it is important to use when it is genuinely the best way of helping an individual develop. LFRS are looking to appoint 6 external coaching professionals to cover the potential demands across the Service. It is envisaged there will be an equitable split of work via the matching system LFRS adopt.
