Description
The project will produce the first mainland UK-wide assessment of the current contribution of wood burning to ambient PM in our cities, from 2009 to 2015. Results will be displayed on maps and cities will be grouped / ranked according to their wood burning prevalence. This spatial information can then be used by the NAEI and compared with: The spatial distribution in the emissions inventory including assumptions regarding the uptake of wood burning inside and outside smoke control areas. The regional differences wood burning prevalence found in the recent DECC (Walters, 2016) survey. Pilot analysis suggests greater wood burning in the southern half of the UK when compared to Scotland and northern England consistent with Walters (2016)
