Description

The Council became a unitary authority in 1997, so has responsibility for Education, Social Services and Highways in addition to its normal functions. It’s a difficult time for local authorities with increased expectation and reduced resources. Many of the functions are carried out in partnership with other organisations – both public and private and we continue to explore alternate delivery models The Council has been insured with Zurich Municipal, previously Municipal Mutual, for over 30 years. The entire insurance programme, with some minor exceptions, is placed with them, and current insurance coverage is supplied under a long-term agreement expiring in 2018 with an option to extend for a further 2 years The Council has a requirement for a suitably experienced broker firm to tender for the service of negotiating and advising the Council on all insurance arrangements. Until recently the Insurance & Risk function within the Council was addressed by one person. This has recently expanded to four people and the Council is looking to reinvigorate its insurance and risk program to ensure greater resilience. We are looking for a broker to help and support us towards that goal it is expected the Council will require comprehensive day to day support over the first year of the contract and possibly beyond.
