Description
The Forestry Commission will be awarding a contract for the design and implementation of works to deliver a fish pass and eel pass at Blakeney Village Weir in the Forest of Dean. This will need to restore the migratory route for five migratory fish species and for residential fish in the Blackpool Brook. Our intention is to award this contract for a period of 15 months Dec 2017 to March 2019. The total value of this contract over the entire period will be in the region of £70,000 - £80,000. The appointed contractor will need to work with the weir owners Gloucestershire County Council (who are the responsible highway agency for the A48 and the side road - either side of the brook) and with Awre & Blakeney Parish Council which own a small village green downstream of the weir. They will also need to work with the Environment Agency, Natural England and Forest of Dean District Council to ensure that the works are carried out appropriately, given that The Severn Estuary is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Area of Conservation, SPA and .Ramsar site for migratory fish assemblage. Please express your interest in this tender to Sue Middleton (sue.middleton@forestry.gsi.gov.uk) by email by 10am Fri 1st Dec 2017 to allow us to notify you of any questions and answers we may receive.
