The Mount Zion Apostolic Church is a vital community hub which provides essential support and services to thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in one of the most disadvantaged localities in Britain. The Mount Zion Apostolic Church is a Grade II listed building originally designed by Reginald Cooper as a cinema in the 1930s. Of the 13 cinemas designed by Cooper throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire, 8 have been demolished, 3 still exist but are closed or vacant, and only one still operates as a cinema. The building of Mount Zion has drawn comment from Historic England for the intact nature of the interior decoration, which is a rare survival in cinemas of this age and type. The Trust were successful in securing Delivery Phase funding from The Heritage Fund to deliver the "Picturing the Past" project to redevelop the building, showcase its heritage and deliver the community engagement programme. The Trust are seeking a main contractor for the re-modelling and refurbishment works to the Grade II listed building, allow the Church to start re-providing services/funerals/weddings etc from the venue, to provide a refreshed visitor experience, improved education facilities, café/ bar, events/activity space and flexible office facilities. The client is seeking a main contractor with: - Considerable experience/ expertise in carrying out works on historic/ listed buildings, e.g. Conservation packages - Theatre/ cinema project experience advantageous - Experience working in densely populated/ busy city centre sites - Experience managing construction logistics in constrained sites This enquiry is to seek expressions of interest in order that the client can invite tenders from a short list of suitable companies to provide a fixed price lump sum contract which will be let under a JCT Standard Building Contract with Quantities. The Contractor should acknowledge that the Trust intend to retain the services of all the consultant team. Therefore, consultant novation's are not proposed.
